Add eSIM

The Add eSIM command allows administrators to remotely provision an eSIM profile to a managed device directly from the mambo EMM console.
This helps organizations deploy mobile connectivity without requiring a physical SIM card.

⚠️ Important:

  • Native eSIM provisioning is supported on Android 15 and above
  • For devices running below Android 15, eSIM provisioning is handled through the EMM Companion app

How to Add an eSIM in mambo EMM

  1. Log in to the mambo EMM Console
  2. Navigate to Management → Devices
  3. Select the target device
  4. In the Actions menu, click Add eSIM
  5. Complete the required fields (based on Android version)
  6. Click Add eSIM to send the command

The command is sent instantly to the device and processed in the background.


Android 15 and Above (Native Support)

For devices running Android 15+, mambo uses the Android native API to add the eSIM profile.

❗ Setting ACTIVATED for a personally-owned device will result in the command being rejected.

Android 14 and Below (Companion App Method)

For devices running below Android 15, mambo uses a custom implementation via the EMM Companion App.

In this case, the modal shows:

This is processed by the EMM Companion App installed on the device.

📌 Make sure the EMM Companion App is installed and has the required permissions before using this method.


Configure Lock Command Expiry (Optional)

By default, the Add eSIM command expires after 10 minutes if the device is offline.
You can manually change this before sending the command.

  1. Enable Set custom expiry
  2. Enter a value (for example: 1)
  3. Select a unit from the dropdown:
  4. Seconds
  5. Minutes
  6. Hours
  7. Click Add eSIM to send the command

If the device does not receive the command before the expiry time, the request is automatically cancelled.


Important Notes

  • To provision multiple eSIMs on the same device, wait a few minutes between each command.
  • To control if an eSIM is removed during a device wipe, configure wipeDataFlags in the applied device policy.
  • Device must be online & enrolled to receive the command.

Requirements

To use add eSIM, the user must have the Device Command Permission:

  • Can manage eSIMs

And must also have permission to view devices.
